I love it when my copy of Vegan Voice arrives every quarter. I always get excited when I see the brown envelope sticking out of the post box. As a vegan you can feel a bit isolated at times. It feels as if you have the weight of the world on your shoulders and it often seems like most other people don’t understand where you’re coming from.
When I read through the pages of Vegan Voice I become enveloped in a world where there is hope. People are taking action to save the environment and to stop suffering of animals. These people are all over Australia (and the rest of the world) and it is only when I get my Vegan Voice, or when I attend an animal rights meeting that I feel that change is taking place.
Of course it covers the dark side of things as well, such as the cruelty that takes place all over the world, but there are wonderful moments of humor and comradeship as you read through the articles.
If you love animals, but are not yet a vegetarian or vegan you should pick up a copy anyway. It is a great place to start getting informed and each issue also includes delicious vegan recipes, interviews and my favorite section, To The Max, where the columnist, Max, finds humor in the most depressing of situations. I love his segments titled, The Animals Revenge where you can read about animal abusers getting their just desserts from the animals themselves.
One of the things I love most about the magazine is reading interviews with inspiring vegans and animal rights activists who really are making a difference. It gives the reader a wonderful feeling of empowerment and hope.
